Running at Les-Stables

Where do we start. Well firstly Les-Stables is probably the only privately owned facility in the whole of France that can offer an 800 metre oval cinder track which traverses its way through the woods and open meadow which is dedicated solely to running. Situated only 100 metres from the accommodation, the track was originally used for training horses but now makes a perfect surface for speed work sessions.
When it's really hot we take the advantage of the shade offered by the overhanging trees, or if we fancy soaking up the sun we can focus on the open meadow section of the track which still benefits from the summer breeze.
In so far as surface is concerned the cinder means the track maintains a soft upper surface thereby reducing the risk of injury whilst the harder under surface maintains the stability of the course. A great surface to train on.
Apart from the oval track Les-Stables also offers over 25 hectares (50 acres) of wild meadow and woodland with a multitude of trails set out through the woods which means an exploratory run through the private estate is a must for anyone who comes here.
In addition to the tracks on the estate if you fancy running further a field, then the vast number of chemin rurals, or bridal paths in the immediate vicinity means you will never be at a loss for a new trail to explore, all easily accessible from Les-Stables and once again the scenery is a joy to run through even if you are giving it your all.
Whether you are here for the speed work or the long haul, running at Les-Stables is a real experience.
